Germany is known for many things, however, lowriding isn't one of those things, and for good reason. The TÜV aka the Technischer Überwachungs-Verein, or translated into English, the Technical Inspection Association and its vehicle restrictions. The size of and placement of lights, turn signals, tags, fender lengths, air-ride and road clearance, wheels, tire makes and sizes, brakes — if you can think of it, then the TÜV has regulations or restrictions on it.

For German native, Andy, aka "Sky," the dream of being able to build a lowrider-style Harley while living in Germany seemed almost impossible due to the fact that parts usually used in U.S.-based lowrider Harley builds aren't compliant with German federal regulations. Sky knew that his goal wouldn't be easy, nor would it be cheap. However rather than be deterred Sky was motivated even more to build the bike of his dreams.

Knowing he would need help for his build, Sky created a detailed design concept for his bike and enlisted the help of Waldi and his team at Bikershop-Bittner. Starting with a completely stock '03 Harley Softail Heritage Classic, Sky had the bike stripped down to the frame and engine. Sky first started by adding a set of DNA Mammoth Spokes wrapped in Vee Rubber whitewall tires before adding Samson true dual crossover headers, Kess-Tech pipes, a 1.25-inch lowering kit up front and an air-ride suspension to the rear along with CycleSmiths floorboards, an HD low-profile tank dash, Freight Train nacelle headlight and passing lights, bullet-style blinkers, and Thunderbike Beachbar 32 handlebars.

Not liking the rivets on the tins, Sky had them stretched before sending them off to be painted. Starting with a two-tone basecoat, Sky had Siggi Zimmer of Experience Colours handle the gold-leaf plating, pencil drawings, and lettering. As a huge fan and collector of Brian M. Viveros' art and wanting his bike to have a Dia de los Muertos theme to it, Sky reached out to the artist and got permission to use Brian's piece, "Viva La Muerte" as the basis for the artwork on the side of the gas tank.

After six months of hard work, Sky's bike, "La Catrina" was finished and the result was a rolling piece of art that exceeded even his expectations. Since its completion, La Catrina has been making big waves over there in Europe. Sky says that wherever people see it on the road they are always stopping him so that they can take pictures of his bike or ask him questions about it or compliment him on it.
