All throughout the world there are hundreds if not thousands of car shows, but very few become a benchmark by which custom builders and enthusiasts swear by. Yet among those handful of shows, one of the most heralded is Autorama.
Known best for showcasing the finest in hot rods and custom builds, Autorama is one of the shows where "budget" isn't a relative word. With extreme custom builds and only the best in the game exhibiting, the show is simply breathtaking —if not heartbreaking. While standard entries into this show have spent well into the six figures, it's not surprising at all to find seven-figure builds on display as well.
This year we were honored to have been able to work on a collaboration with Autorama, and the end result was both amazing and humbling. Along with theLowriderMagazine rig, we were allocated three rows to showcase lowriders from various local clubs. In addition, we also brought with us the 2014 Impala that we built for SEMA, as well as Saul Vargas', infamous Monte Carlo "Wild Child."
With plenty of hot rods, muscle cars, including the Lowrider Bomb and Car of the Year, there was also a swap meet and a live car auction. Also, a good portion of the outside arena was set aside for lowriders and we were truly flattered and grateful to have taken part. The judging of the lowrider entries was managed by Shorty, of Shorties Hydraulics, and in attendance as well were the famous LRM models giving away magazines and signed posters.
In closing, we feel blessed for the warm reception and we'd like to extend a special thanks to Pete Toundas and the Autorama crew for welcoming our magazine and our culture.
Thanks again guys. Your show comes second to none.
